Great to see you’ve chosen to use the budgeting license! This license is unique because, unlike many budgeting tools that require weeks or months for implementation, we can set up a ready-made budgeting dashboard for you in just a few minutes after you have created the integration and entered your budget.
In this article, you’ll learn how to enter a new budget, which will activate the budgeting dashboard.
Let’s hop in!
Adding a new budget
- Select the “Plan” tab.
- Click “New Budget” in the upper right corner of the site.
- Enter a name for your budget.
- Choose the budgeting period.
- Select the budgeting dimensions, such as account, cost center, cost center type, project, project type, or customer number.
- Define the dimensions in your desired order.
- Select the items for each dimension.
- Click the “Save” button.
Entering numbers into the budget
- The budget template has now been created, and it’s time to input the numbers. Click "Input mode" in the upper right corner to enter the desired numbers into the budget.
- Select the row and column where you want to enter a number. Click the chosen cell and input the number.
- Press the Enter key. Choose whether to distribute the number evenly or in relation to the comparative values:
- Evenly: The same amount is entered for all months.
- Relative to comparative values: Mirrors the actual accounting results.
Once you’ve entered all the numbers, the budgeting dashboard will automatically activate, allowing you to view the key figures from your budget.
Budgeting dashboard
Wonderful! Your budgeting dashboard is now ready! You can find your dashboard under the "Report" tab. Select "2. Budget reports" from the dashboard menu and then "4 Budget and actual reporting."
In the budgeting dashboard, you can compare your business's actual figures to the budget. You will see turnover, operating costs, EBITDA, and operating profit in relation to the budget.
