In this guide, you'll learn how to use a custom hierarchy to filter report views.
When you create a new hierarchy, it’s automatically added to the filter options available in your reports.
By activating the filter, you can easily view only the data you've defined in your hierarchy, as StatBun updates the report view in real time.
If you haven't yet created a hierarchy for the dimensions brought in through the integration, check out this guide (opens in a new tab): How do I create hierarchies for different dimensions?
1. In the dashboard menu, select the report where you want to filter data using your custom hierarchy.
2. Click Filter results in the top right corner.
3. Open the data source (such as accounting or budget) and the dimension under which you’ve created the hierarchy.
4. If your hierarchy includes subgroups, click the arrow next to the group name to expand them.
5. Select the groups whose data you want to view in the reports by clicking the checkbox next to the group name. You can select multiple groups at once.
You can also activate all hierarchy groups by selecting the Select all option.
Once you activate a hierarchy group or subgroup, the reports will update to show only the data for that group.
For example, a graph showing revenue will then display only the revenue for the selected hierarchy group.
6. If you want to view the group data broken down alongside other data, also activate the Show individually checkbox.
This will display the selected hierarchy groups as separate rows, lines, bars, or sections in the reports alongside the original base data.
7. StatBun automatically updates the report view based on your selections.
8. To restore the original view, click Deselect or remove the selections individually.
